American Pharoah will try to continue his quest towards the Triple Crown and has been tabbed as the morning line favorite at odds of 4-5 for trainer Bob Baffert. A bay son of Pioneerof the Nile, he has won five of his six career starts and is undefeated from three starts as a sophomore. He delivered as the favorite in the Kentucky Derby (G1) by one-length and will have regular rider Victor Espinoza in the irons from the rail.
Second choice at 7-2 on the morning line is Dortmund who also comes out of the Baffert barn. A massive son of Big Brown, he has won six of his seven career starts and his undefeated streak was snapped in the Kentucky Derby (G1) when he had to settle for third after setting the pace. Martin Garcia, his regular rider, will be back aboard and they are scheduled to break from post position two as he tries to earn his seventh career victory.
Also in the field at morning line odds of 12-1 is Divining Rod for trainer Arnaud Delacour. A dark bay son of Tapit, he has been on the board in all five of his career starts and is coming in fresh with five weeks since his last race, a winning effort in the Lexington Stakes (G3). He has been training steadily since then and will have Javier Castellano aboard for the first time. They are slated to break from post position seven as he goes for his first Grade 1 win.
