It proved to be a day of disappointment for the Woodbine connections of three horses entered in last weekend’s $750,000 G. I Toyota Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland, one of the last major prep races leading up to the 2013 Kentucky Derby. In an important quest to score a top-four finish, and gain valuable points toward a spot in the starting gate for the Run for the Roses, all three horses, Uncaptured, Dynamic Sky, and Tesseron, ran well back in the 14-horse field.\n
\nMark Casse, last year’s leading trainer in both wins and money earned at Woodbine, trains two of the three, Uncaptured and Dynamic Sky. The morning line favorite, Uncaptured broke well and was in contention, at just two lengths off the lead at the 3/4 pole, but faded to finish 10th, beaten 11 lengths by the winner, Java’s War. Dynamic Sky entered the race at 9-1 and never was a factor, running second-last most of the way, eventually finishing 9th. Tesseron, saddled by Woodbine regular Josie Carroll, and a morning line long shot at 50-1, finished 11th.\n
\nAfter the race, Casse indicated that both Canadian bred horses, Uncaptured and Dynamic Sky, could be pointed towards the historic Queen’s Plate and a shot at the Canadian Triple Crown. Casse stated that Dynamic Sky would definitely be returning to Woodbine, although plans for Uncaptured were still up in the air. As a Kentucky-bred, Tessoron is not eligible for the Queen's Plate but he is slated to return to the world of Woodbine for races during the summer meet.
